Matchstick kits were part of my childhood and they used to keep me very much amused until I found other more tempting things to fill my time and over the months I soon forgot about something I admittedly enjoyed doing.
Recently I was searching on the web and happened to stumble on a site that sold matchstick kits and I was admittedly excited to see it again. It triggered of some very nice memories for me and I had to admittedly struggle to even remember where all the models that I made as a kid went. I am sure they were thrown away by man along time ago.

What was captivating was that the models being sold now were approximately the same as the ones being sold about 30 years ago and it was admittedly nice to see them again, but the other thing that came to mind was that if they were still being sold after 30 years then there must be not only interest in them but a very active market.
Seeing the matchstick kits gave me a nice warm feeling as it took me back to my childhood. A time when life seemed so much easier! Now I am a businessman and entrepreneur, life has become crazy and I longed for the "good old days!"
Putting the two ideas together, I concept I not only may be able to find my old hobby again, but I may even have found a new business for me.
Imagine my surprise when I found a website selling a huge matchstick kit that contained over 500,000 matches and was being sold for ,000!
Now that triggered off some interest in me as well as some nostalgia!
I also came over a site that was displaying an stupendous matchstick kit of St Paul's Cathedral and they were selling it for about ,000. Not that caught my attention!
I am excitedly waiting for my new matchstick kit to arrive in the post, I hope it will be here this week so that I can spend some time relaxing and doing something new. I am curious if there are any other matchstick modelers around and what tips and secrets we maybe able to swap.
I think it is captivating that we can make just about anything with matchstick kits from buildings, to train, boats, planes and even people. It can't be that difficult to make a new template of some of the landmarks around me and try selling something to this new market.
